Being on the west coast, I was still in bed but I was awake. It takes me a while to shake off sleep or else I get pretty crabby so I lay in bed listening to the radio trying to wake up.

When I heard the news bulletin that a plane had hit the twin towers, I knew. I didn't want to believe it but I knew. By the time the second plane hit, even the denial protecting me with disbelier was shattered. When I heard about the third plane, I wondered how many more there were going to be.

They'd been telling us for years they were coming after us. While most people stayed smug in their belief that they wouldn't dare attack us here, I knew they didn't care about the consequences. They only cared about killing us.

Today, I know that hasn't changed. They still are obsessed with killing us. We need to listen to what they are saying in their threats instead of shrugging them off as the babblings of lunatics. We can't protect ourselves if we won't even acknowledge the threat is real.

Believe it or not, they don't scare me as much as I am scared by the fact most people seem to believe if we are just "nice" enough the world will be nice back. That might be true in a perfect world but this world is far from perfect. These people won't stop until they kill us unless we stop them. They remind us of that every chance they get. The question is are we listening??

You do a beautiful job of writing up your memory. It must have been so different on the West Coast. Waking up to a completely different and horrifying world.

And I wish everyone thought like you. Being nice only works in the movies.

It is the denial and PC-ness that scares me more than our attackers. If we don't believe, we can't defend ourselves.

Thank you for putting it so well.

  • Yes, this site has advertising
Horses aren't cheap to keep, even in your backyard. So, I sell ads on this site. I don't know these people, so don't buy anything based on my recommendation. However, I do try to be selective in the advertising I accept, and I try to keep it entertaining. Thanks for coming by.
