Getting Ready for the Horse Show Tomorrow
Time flies between shows -- and we don't show that much. Tomorrow is the last show in the series of local shows Lily has been going to. They'll hand out season high-point awards at the end. It's her first chance to win a trophy. I know I should be limiting my prayers to asking for safety, fun and a great learning experience for all, but every now and then a "Please God let her win a trophy!" slips in. Then I have to pray for world peace to balance it out a little.
Today it rained and rained. I'd guess a few inches, which we greatly needed because of the drought. Not a great thing for getting and keeping a horse clean before a show. Here's what Buddy looked like when the rain stopped.
Another small problem. Somebody who will remain nameless decided that scissors would work as well as a pulling comb since the scissors were easier to find. Part way through the scissoring of the mane, somebody decided that perhaps Mom needed to be called in. I had to match the length that had already been established, so the results are that Buddy won't need another hair cut for quite some time. He looks like a new army recruit.
Lily braided him, put on his sleazy hood that I hope I washed sufficiently for the bright colors not to bleed onto him, and then dressed him in his pajamas (turnout sheet).
Buddy doesn't like to stay in his stall. He'd be cleaner tomorrow if he did, but he'd also be too fresh. With Buddy the right word is probably "rowdy" more than "fresh."
Got to go do Mom things. So glad I'm mean and left all the cleaning and polishing of everything from the boots to the horse to Lily. I just need to organize the food, drinks, TP, towels, chairs, etc.
Hope I don't break the camera this time so I can show you photos!

Can't wait for the results. Good luck to Lily and Buddy tomorrow.

Wow, you do more to get ready for a show than I do. I figure I provide the horse, the truck and the trailer, not to mention the groom and training power. I leave Colleen and Rachel to do the rest.
BTW I think praying for world peace balances things out nicely. You go girl. lol
