Rain!
With a 17-inch rain deficit, are we ever glad to see the rain. I hope we can miss the violent parts of this storm, though.
My pasture is a dustbowl. The trees are turning, not from fall weather (we haven't had any), but from the drought.
I'm leaving as soon as I can finish my work to meet college friends at the beach (more and a recipe at LifePundit), so I won't be posting until Monday. Lily and Paul are going to the State Fair (not the show) while I'm gone, and Lily is intently practicing for the horse show next weekend that ends the season for that series. She's so far ahead in one jumping division that I think she'll get the high point award (her first trophy) even if she doesn't show up. She's got a chance in two other divisions, but the competition is stiff.
She found out how to do flying changes. Wish Buddy could do it without making a face, because it's otherwise flawless. When Jane was here building up Lily's confidence, she told her to ask for a flying change and it happened. Buddy doesn't do them automatically, which suits me fine. In fact, it suits me better. So, when the rain ends and the fair is over, I'm sure there will be much practicing and polishing. I wish I could be two places at once.
Have a great weekend. Hope it's good riding weather wherever you are!

flying lead-changes are no easy feat to learn! congrats!

I have not mastered flying changes. But I have never really tried at lessons or with some help that might know how. lol

Sounds like you guys needed some rain! We're on the other end of the spectrum. We've had the better part of a week or so of near non-stop rain! The trees here are changing too but they aren't very pretty...lots of browns due to the weird rain patterns this year...too much in the spring...drought in the summer...too much again this fall. It's been just weird this year. I hope next year is more "normal"...whatever that is...LOL!
