I have never pulled Lucy's forelock. Isn't this just the saddest thing? Hard to feel like a girly girl when this is the best you can do. Don't even think Big Sexy Hair would help. (Camera's back! Just playing!) Click on the picture to make the forelock large enough to see.

I don't know what the deal is with forelocks. You can have a horse with a full think mane and a skimpy forelock. I mean the darn forelock is just the top end of the mane, hair should grow as well there as the rest. It's just wierd as are we horse people who obsess about such things. lol

My last horse was an old appaloosa. His "forelock" was nothing more than a cotton swab.

That is definitely not the saddest forelock I've seen -- there are a couple at my barn that are just pitiful. I especially hate the ones that look like a 5 year-old that has cut their own bangs.

I think my horse's forelock might have been sadder looking a couple of years ago. We were all getting ready to go and round up the cattle and my city brother in law was helping us saddle up (he's from the city but has been apart of our family for almost 20 years so you would think he would know better). My horse had a ton of burrs in his forelock so I asked my brother in law if he could get them out. Next thing I know he's coming towards me with a handful of hair! I was horrified when I saw that he cut off the entire forelock, and when I questiong the Brother in law as to why you would do that his response was that it doesn't do anything anyways. So I bridle up my horse and lead him out of the barn where my dad is waiting, well I thought his eyes were going to bug out of his head and before he could say anything I just said, wasn't me, talk to you son in law. You would not believe how many people noticed it in the weeks afterwards!! It also surprised me how long it took to grow back!!
